I just bought a 1999 JD LT166. The new mowers have a reverse shut off. You cannot mow in reverse without pushing a button on the dash. Other than being a pain, I was wondering how to override this. The dealerships cannot tell me. Does anyone know how? I'm mowing with a Freedon 42" deck.

More likely your dealer WON'T tell you how because it's a liability issue for him and a safety issue for you. That button is there for a reason.Still, I understand the convenience of mowing in reverse, and if you're determined, just replace the button with a toggle switch. Then you can trade safety for convenience whenever you wish. Two minutes work with a continuity checker will tell you whether you need NO or NC contacts. ....
